i found leafcutter john while perusing the cycling '74 site for max/msp information. he had a great interview on that site and i tracked down his site.
he has some free patches that he gives away that are really cool. the music i found of his on itunes is very cool also.

this site is called banjo manufacturers of the golden age. basically a good place to look up serial numbers of old banjos that you might have laying around.
